At Tails Animal Chiropractic Care, our pet chiropractors provide services for community of Boulder, Windsor & Fort Collins, Colorado.

Animals often suffer from the same ailments people do but sometimes have a harder time showing us that they hurt. Our pets can suffer from disc herniations, back and neck pain, hip and shoulder dysfunction, and even jaw pain. If your pet has trouble getting up and down the stairs, trouble rising, limps, drops food, or yelps when being picked up, chiropractic care can help. Other signs to watch out for include irritability, decreased performance, stiffness, puppy sitting, muscle spasms, or simply them “not being themselves.”

Chiropractic care is holistic in nature and looks at full-body wellness. If the body is functioning properly, it is better able to cope with all kinds of internal and external stressors. It increases the effectiveness of the immune system, improves nervous system input which affects everything from muscle tone to joint health. It helps prevent degeneration of dysfunctional joints and improves circulation leading to increased healing to problem areas.

Chiropractic care is definitely worth it for pets of all ages and abilities, whether they be an accomplished athlete our your favorite couch potato. Preventative care is a fundamental element in creating a long-lasting and better quality of life for your pet. Because it is so important, we try to make our care as affordable as possible and as available as possible. The investment in your pet’s health is such a gift that you can give them. Benjamin Franklin said it best: “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” Treating problems early will help decrease the possibility of spending more time, energy and money down the road.

Puppy Wellness

Chiropractic care can play an important role in helping your puppy to grow into a happy, healthy adult. Our puppy wellness program is designed to help improve motion and alignment as your dog grows so as to improve overall health and conformation. Your puppy will be adjusted every month until they reach one year of age to make sure they start out their life on the right paw.

Senior Dog Wellness

Senior dog wellness is all about improving quality of life and decreasing pain for our older dogs. This program is designed to help your senior dog be as comfortable as possible in their golden years. Chiropractic adjustments, stretching and soft tissue work will be utilized to improve joint motion, reduce stiffness and improve overall function.

Canine Athlete Care

Just like human athletes, canine athletes benefit from chiropractic care to improve performance and reduce the chance of injury. Our canine athlete program is great for any working dogs, agility, flyball, earth dog, carting, field trials, dock jumping or any other sport where your dog is using their body for performance. This program is designed to make sure their bodies are able to function optimally and give them a competitive edge. Your athlete deserves the best!

FAQs

What should I expect?

Typical appointments last anywhere from 15-30 minutes. Your animal will receive a thorough chiropractic examination (ruling out any veterinary related issues), gait and stance analysis, full spine and extremity adjusting and of course lots of love and cuddles! It is our goal to make the visit as gentle and stress-free as possible so that your pet is comfortable and happy.

What is an Adjustment?

Joints are assessed for proper movement and alignment. If the joint is found to be dysfunctional or not moving properly, an adjustment is rendered to the area. This is a quick thrust in a specific direction that frees up the joint allowing the joint to move and nervous system input (via joint receptors) to function properly. Chiropractic adjustments restore proper motion to the joints, improve nervous system input, and release endorphins. Some pets sleep after treatment and some pets have increased energy. Every pet is unique and often has their own reaction to care.

A Gentle Loving Touch

Animal chiropractic is safe and effective for animals suffering from common conditions such as limping, trouble jumping, stiff movement, jaw pain, joint pain or overall poor performance. Like people, your pets understand the healing power of the human touch and its ability to eliminate the aches and pains they’ve picked up through their lives. A gentle and effective approach will ensure that your pet is calm and at ease while the treatment is given. Dr. Barnes works with your veterinarian to offer your animal the best care possible.
