Is your senior dog suffering?

There are many amazing benefits of water therapy that have long been utilized for human healing and recovery. Those same benefits are incredibly powerful for our canine community. Underwater treadmill therapy allows dogs to be able to improve range of motion, strength, and flexibility, all while decreasing the load on arthritic or injured joints.   The water allows for increased circulation which can aid in recovery and healing.  Due to the resistance of the water, the nervous system is stimulated, therefore helping nerve function and increasing strength.

Under water treadmill differs from swimming in that it is easier on the body and stimulates the normal gait cycle.  This is important because it allows the dog to “practice walking” with decreased weight  on their joints.

The walls of the container are clear which allows the dog to feel at ease and not confined. Many times all you need is a little peanut butter as motivation and these dogs are happy as can be. The water depth and speed are variable allowing the dog to work up to varying levels as they get stronger.

If your dog suffers from arthritis, cruciate tears, paralysis, luxating patellas, chronic pain, obesity or is pre/post surgical, canine water therapy may be a great solution to get them back on their feet – all four of them!
